Energy Appliances
Green is the new way to be. With all the talk of global warming, greenhouse gases, and melting ice caps, the world has started paying attention to the way they use energy, drive their cars, and purchase their appliances. Energy efficient appliances are now at an all-time high when it comes to sales, and rightly so -- after all, unlike some other energy efficient changes (such as a hybrid car), you are going to see financial savings almost immediately as well.
Energy efficient appliances have been around for a long time. Countries like the US, Canada, and the UK have been encouraging their citizens to purchase energy efficient appliances like Maytag for a while now. Initially, when energy efficient appliances first came to the forefront, people thought they were only available in washing machines and dishwashers; they did not realize that energy efficient appliances were available for their blenders, vacuum cleaners, cooktops, furnaces, etc. Actually, nearly everything that you purchase that runs off of electricity is offered in an energy efficient form today.
There are a couple of great reasons for purchasing energy efficient appliances. One is for your pocketbook. If you switch all of your appliances to energy efficient appliances, you are going to see a considerable change in your electric and water bills at the very start. Who does not want to save money on their household bills? I know that I do.
The other benefit to purchasing energy efficient appliances is for the environment. Energy efficient means that your appliances are using less energy to function. This means that you are using less electricity (and water) and thereby shrinking your carbon footprint. And if you are like me and my family, with the amount of garbage that we throw away daily, we need to find another source for helping our environment.
If you are curious about how much electricity and water you can save by using specific energy efficient appliances, then you should check out the EnerGuide. This guide offers a comparison of a non-rated appliance to one that has been rated. This will give you a clear idea of how well your current appliance does compared to an Energy Star rated appliance.
So no matter whether you are in the market for a vacuum cleaner or a cooker, a washing machine or a dishwasher, purchase energy efficient appliances for your pocketbook, for your environment, and for appliances that will work well for your and your family.
